The durability and permanence of stone stand for eternal life. Modern natural stone headstones are a respectful way to keep alive the memory of a loved one who has died. By changing the shapes of stone blocks, we try to create forms that symbolise life, death and eternity, or forms that bring back memories of our loved ones.

Thanks to its durability, aesthetic value and variety, natural stone is a very popular material for modern headstones and here are some of the most popular types.

Which natural stone is actually suitable for a headstone?

#1 Granite

This is one of the most commonly used materials for modern headstones, as it is very strong, durable and resistant to wear and weather, and it comes in many colours, from light to dark. A modern granite headstone is also a common choice because it needs no special maintenance and is very easy to clean.

#2 Marble

This is a prestigious, elegant stone that is very often used for modern headstones because of its shiny appearance. Marble is, however, more sensitive than granite and needs a little more care if you want to keep it looking good.

#3 Sandstone

This natural stone has a distinctive structure that makes it especially suitable for modern headstones.

Choose the right modern headstone

Modern natural stone headstones, with their permanence, stand for eternal life. When you design a modern natural stone headstone, you can choose different shapes, sizes and details that reflect the personality of the deceased.

They come in all kinds of shapes, from classic rounded to modern rectangular, irregular or oval, through to headstones with special motifs and shaped tops and edges. The shapes of modern natural stone headstones can be standard designs or created individually. You can also include symbols such as crosses, angels, flowers and other elements with a special meaning.

Cemeteries usually have no restrictions on the colour of headstones. Most are grey, black, red or white. There are, however, certain restrictions on the size or dimensions of headstones and graves. The restrictions are stricter mainly in larger towns, because cemeteries there are short of space.
