How do you choose the right ceramic tiles for your bathroom?
What kind of bathroom do you want?
Before you decide on a new bathroom or a renovation , ask yourself a few questions that will help you choose the right furniture and materials for it.
Do you want your bathroom to feel like a kind of spa, or is it enough for it to be a warm and pleasant room?
Do you want a shower and a bath, a single or a double basin?
Do you prefer cool or warm, earthy colours?
Do you want ceramic tiles only on the floor or on the bathroom walls too?
Should the ceramics on the walls go all the way up or only to the height of the bathroom furniture?
Would you lay different ceramics inside the shower to add some interest to the bathroom?

How do you choose ceramic tiles for your bathroom?
Bathroom ceramic tiles are divided into wall tiles and floor tiles.
Because of their properties, wall tiles are only meant for walls, while floor tiles are also suitable for bathroom walls.
In the bathroom, ceramic tiles serve as decoration and protect floors and walls from dirt, water and moisture.
Choosing ceramic tiles for your bathroom depends on several factors.
If your bathroom is small, for example, and so gets less light, it is a good idea to choose glossy tiles in slightly larger sizes. With fewer grout lines, they will make the room look bigger.
If you have a large, spacious and bright bathroom, we recommend matt tiles of at least 60 × 60 cm, which will add even more interest to the room.

With bathroom tiles, you also need to pay attention to how slippery they are.
A bathroom has a lot of moisture, and you step out of the shower or bath with wet feet, so it is best if the tiles themselves are not slippery.
We recommend tiles with a slip rating of at least R8. If you do not use a shower tray and the shower floor is simply tiled, tiles with a slip rating of at least R10, which are especially slip resistant, are definitely the right choice.
Polished or matt ceramic tiles in the bathroom?
We definitely recommend matt ceramic tiles for bathroom floors, because smooth or polished tiles are too slippery, which can be especially dangerous in a bathroom.
Matt bathroom tiles are usually smooth enough to be pleasant to walk on, yet they do not get slippery when the floor is wet.
On bathroom walls you can go for polished tiles, because they are very easy to clean, make a dark room brighter and make it look bigger.
The only disadvantage of polished tiles is that dirt shows on them a little sooner.
Advantages of ceramic tiles in the bathroom
- Ceramic tiles are very easy to maintain. With larger sizes, maintenance is even easier, because there are fewer grout lines.
- Ceramic tiles give a bathroom a modern elegance and refinement.
- Bathroom ceramic tiles come in many sizes, shades and designs (concrete, marble and wood effects), so you can choose a style that matches your bathroom design exactly.
- They are very resistant to moisture, which makes them ideal for bathrooms.
- Ceramic tiles are usually much cheaper than other materials.
Ceramic tiles in your bathroom will affect how you feel there, so choose them carefully and thoughtfully.
If you follow our advice, we can assure you that your bathroom will also become your own place of well-being.
