A distinctive workplace with natural stone elements
When we think about which rooms to use natural stone in, the kitchen, bathroom and staircase come to mind first. But what about the office? We looked at how careful use of natural stone adds to the look and practical value of a workspace and gives it a touch of elegance and exclusivity.
We spend a large part of the day in the office, so it is important that it offers a creative, efficient and comfortable place to work. Every workspace, whether in a small or large company or a home office, needs a careful choice of materials that create a pleasant, attractive atmosphere.
Office desk or worktop
An office work surface is a piece of office furniture that takes a lot of wear. Desks and worktops are exposed to all kinds of things: knocks, stains and spilled liquids, so they quickly show unwanted wear. Office design is moving more and more towards office worktops made of natural stone, which offer many practical advantages and a beautiful atmosphere. Granite worktops are especially recommended.
A granite worktop will give your workspace a bold note and will certainly stand out. It is very durable and long-lasting and comes in a wide range of shades and patterns that will go well with the other elements in the room. Granite needs no special care, especially if you seal it before use to make it even more resistant to stains and stop liquids soaking in.
Window sills
Enough light is very important in an office, so you need to think carefully about where the windows go. Windows of course also include window sills, which give an attractive finish and serve as a ledge. Many shades with beautiful patterns, no two alike, are available and will give your office a sense of refinement and elegance.
Common choices for stone sills are marble and granite. With their good looks, marble sills will be a welcome addition to the workplace. The maximum length of a marble sill depends on its thickness and type, and is usually between 2.5 and 3 m.
Granite is also a very popular material for window sills. Compared with marble, granite sills are more granular and harder, so they resist knocks and outside influences better. Here too, the maximum length is between 2.5 and 3 m, and you can choose granite slabs 2 or 3 cm thick.
Stone cladding that brings harmony to a room
Liven up the look of your office with stone floor and wall cladding. Natural stone works well with wood, glass or metal and adds a touch of nature to a room. Careful, harmonious use creates a pleasant working environment. Beautiful stone floors, lovely decorative wall and cladding in different stones, with their individual textures, structures and shades, will enrich your office and give it the visual effect you want.
Stones such as granite, marble, limestone or travertine are hard-wearing, long-lasting and need little care, so they are used most often for floors. For interior stone walls, travertine, marble and limestone are the most common choice. Add some ambient lighting and your office will look completely new!
A corner to relax in
Every office also needs a corner to relax in, where you can enjoy a cup of coffee in peace after work, spend time with colleagues or hold a relaxed business meeting. Natural stone can be made into all kinds of products: practical, artistic or designer pieces. Let your imagination run free and choose decorative objects that inspire you. A comfortable sofa calls for an elegant marble coffee table, a stone vase, frames or wall decorations …
