Stone facades made of natural stone
Stone facades made of natural stone
In Slovenia, stone facades are most often found in Primorska, on the coast. This is because stone is a very durable material that protects a building from harsh weather, and it is also pleasant to look at.
Stone is a natural material that lasts a very long time, and a natural stone facade will last for many years without renovation. Another advantage is its beautiful look, which livens up the whole building and makes it stand out even more.
You can clad the whole facade in natural stone, or just part of it. It depends on what you want. A stone facade can be fixed to the wall in two different ways:
- the stone is fixed directly to the structure with various binders.
- The stone is fixed to the facade on a substructure. This is also called a ventilated facade and is more common. In this case the stone sits a few centimetres away from the inner wall.
Natural stone adds value to your property
Used the right way, natural stone will add value to your property, whether it is a newer or older building. When many people think of natural stone, they think of large, cold rooms. But natural stone is much more than that.
You can also use natural stone in other ways
Outdoors, you can use natural stone in many different ways. But when you choose the type of natural stone, you must take the surroundings and the climate into account. If you live in an area with strong sun, do not buy dark stone, as it absorbs heat and gets very hot in summer. Also keep in mind that some types of stone are slippery, especially when wet. Do not lay these around pools and other water, as people can slip and get hurt.
When choosing natural stone for their outdoor areas, customers most often choose granite, sandstone and travertine. Their properties make them very popular for cladding terraces, stairs, floors, walls, facades … They are hard, long-lasting and resistant to different weather conditions. They blend well with their surroundings, as they let you play with different patterns.
