Granite kitchen worktops

The kitchen is the centre of every home, and the kitchen worktop is the part that takes the most wear. It is the work surface where we prepare, cut and chop food, and sometimes spill it too. The kitchen worktop is where we do homework with our youngest, teach them to cook and spend time together with the family… Of all the materials on the market, the best choice for a kitchen worktops is certainly natural stone. It is an investment in both quality and durability, and fitting a stone kitchen worktop brings nature into your living space. We definitely recommend a granite worktop, as it suits both modern and rustic kitchen styles and has many advantages over other materials. Kamniti kuhinjski pult iz granita v moderni izvedbi

Granite kitchen worktops and their advantages

When you choose the right material for your kitchen work surface, you need to think about both looks and practicality, and granite certainly has both. Every rock that natural stone comes from has its own mineral structure and colour, veins and spots, which we can then work as you wish. A natural stone kitchen worktop  is an excellent choice, as you will never again have to worry about where to put a hot pan, and this stone will almost certainly last longer than any other material. Natural stone needs very little care. It is a good idea to seal the granite surface before use, so it does not absorb any liquids and stays resistant to stains. Natural stone kitchen worktops go with every design style, have a rich, one-of-a-kind look and add value to the home. Every slab is different and cannot be repeated, and no two pieces are the same. There is a wide range of patterns with many textures and shades, from beautiful earth tones and lively greens, blues, reds or yellows to the more basic tones of black, grey and white. On top of all this, granite is very attractive, very hard-wearing and resistant to heat. It brings elegance to a room and will inspire your cooking for many years. It can be exposed to sun, rain and other weather without fading, so you can have it not only indoors but also outside, in an outdoor kitchen.  Properly treated granite also keeps out bacteria that might otherwise settle in your new kitchen worktop. Granite is hard enough that you do not need to worry about scratches. Granite is not the only stone suitable for a kitchen worktop, of course. A worktop can also be marble, but marble is softer and so a little more prone to scratches. Kamniti kuhinjski pult iz granita

Care and maintenance of a granite kitchen worktop

A granite kitchen worktop is very durable and no cleaning product will harm it. Even so, we recommend cleaning it with just a soft cloth and hot water. This is enough even if you are worried about germs and bacteria. There are also special cleaners for granite, which you can get from Marnit. Care tips:
  • If wine, oil or other stubborn stains appear on the surface of your stone kitchen worktop, we recommend cleaning them off as soon as possible with a soft cloth and warm water.
  • Never use rough sponges or other harsh cleaners, as they can damage the surface of the worktop.
  • Before you use a cleaner, test it on a small area of the worktop to make sure it is not too strong for the material.
  • We recommend using a chopping board when you cut with a knife, to prevent mechanical damage to the work surface.
With today's busy pace of life, the kitchen is the one room where the family gets together to prepare food and eat it. That is why it is important to feel at home and comfortable there, and building stone into the kitchen helps you do that.
