Natural stone for a more beautiful home
Decorative natural stone is a good choice to complement existing buildings or new ones you are planning.
Spring brings work outdoors. This is when we notice the flaws that winter covered up. Birdsong and longer, warmer days make you want to sit out on the terrace, which may need some freshening up and repairs. We can help, with a wide choice of natural stone to renew your outdoor surfaces.
Take enough time to think about how to lay out the outside of your house and its surroundings if you want to enjoy them for years to come. At Marnit stonemasons, quality comes first. Below you will find more on why natural stone is the right choice for your home.
Stone for terraces, balconies, courtyards, pools, garden paths, outdoor kitchens, sheds and bike stores … There are plenty of options.
Have you decided that this is the year to redo your terrace and fit it out properly? Keep in mind that these areas are always exposed to the weather, so we recommend natural stone. Marnit stonemasons always adapt to the design style and the existing architecture of your home and its surroundings.
Granite
If the material is your main concern, then granite is certainly one of the best choices you have. It is one of the hardest stones, which is a great quality for natural stone used outdoors in all weathers. Thanks to its durability, versatility, natural character and sense of luxury, it is one of the most popular types of natural stone. Its many textures, patterns and shades suit a wide range of design styles. Every granite slab is one of a kind, which adds even more to the look of your home.
Granite has many outdoor uses: window sills, stairs, paving, kitchen worktops in an outdoor kitchen. Which will you choose?
Sandstone
Sandstone adds to the look of a building, and thanks to its resistance, long life, easy working and wide range of patterns it is just as practical. Sandstone copes with all kinds of weather, so it is especially suitable outdoors. It brings warmth and character to its surroundings and rounds off the look of a building. It is one of those natural materials that work well and look good outdoors on stairs, as a facade, as paving or as pool cladding.
We mainly offer it rough-finished, in several colours, mostly shades of grey, beige, red and brown.
Quartzite
Quartzite has similar properties and uses to granite, but the two differ in appearance. Quartzite is an extremely hard rock. Its distinctive beauty, fine structure, durability and easy care make it an essential part of modern architecture. It is available in grey, brown, beige and green with a natural split surface. It is used mainly for outdoor floors and for cladding facades and other walls.
Choose quartzite and add movement to your design.
Porphyry
If you want a proven classic for the path to your front door, you cannot go wrong with porphyry. It is a stone with a refined, elegant look. Porphyry is a good choice for both modern and rustic designs. As a noble stone, porphyry adds to the look of your home and allows fresh architectural ideas. It has many uses, but is most often used outdoors for wall cladding, paving or steps.
This hard rock is mostly rough-finished. At Marnit stonemasons it is available in grey, red and brown.
Slate
A fairly affordable and attractive option if you want a natural stone to use outside and inside your house. Slate splits into layers, which gives it a naturally split surface.
Slate is very durable, looks good, lasts a long time and has a non-slip structure, so we use slate slabs in many places around the home.
These stone slabs suit hallways, entrance halls and staircases, and you can also use them for a courtyard, terrace, driveway or pool surround. Choose the use that best matches what you want.
At Marnit stonemasons Marnit offers it in black and brown. If you wish, we can adapt the range and source a pattern that goes well with the rest of your home.
Travertine
Travertine is a fine addition to the inside and outside of any home. It is a natural decorative stone formed from sedimentary deposits and comes in light and dark shades. It is the result of minerals and other deposits building up over a long time, which gave its structure its characteristic small air holes.
A tip for anyone who likes it – the fewer small air holes it has, the better the quality of the travertine. Modern stone working offers a filler that we can use to fill these holes if you ask us to. Its surface gives an antique look and brings out the warmth of your home. It withstands changes in temperature and all weather conditions. Filled travertine lasts longer, so we recommend it for floors.
For a refined, shiny look we polish it, which also makes it more resistant and easier to care for. For facades we recommend brushed or honed travertine, which brings out its unusual structure and gives a rustic or modern look.
Rustic
Outdoor kitchens are becoming more popular here too, so it makes sense that people ask for natural stone in a rustic style. This natural stone has a beautiful look and has found its way into many Slovenian homes. It is used more and more as decoration and as the finishing touch, both outdoors and indoors. Indoors it is most often used on a TV wall, around a fireplace, on columns and so on. It goes well with wood, especially if you choose warm shades such as grey-brown or beige-brown.
Outdoors, decorative stone is a good choice for a facade or an outdoor kitchen. You can also use it to smarten up a garden shed or bike store and create a distinctive outdoor setting.
Outdoors, rustic natural stone shows its elegance best in cooler shades of grey, white or green.
… that anything is possible these days! Even so, for outdoor floors, pavements, courtyards, paths and pool surrounds we recommend granite, travertine, sandstone, quartzite, porphyry and slate. Above all because they are durable and highly resistant, and for thousands of years these have been the stones of every major square and forum. They are easy to care for and go well with other materials, so they are certainly one of the better choices for your home too.
Give the surroundings of your home a natural touch and choose natural stone. The experienced and skilled Marnit team will listen to what you want and find the best solution.
